About
Julia Liaw is a PharmD–PhD student in Pharmacoepidemiology at Rutgers, the State University of New Jersey, working under the mentorship of Dr. Chintan Dave at the Center for Pharmacoepidemiology and Treatment Sciences. She earned her Doctor of Pharmacy from the Ernest Mario School of Pharmacy and is currently pursuing her PhD in Epidemiology at the Rutgers School of Public Health.
Her research focuses on the comparative effectiveness and safety of cardiometabolic and renal therapies using large real-world data sources such as CPRD, MarketScan, and Medicaid. She is particularly interested in studying treatment effectiveness in diabetic and chronic kidney disease populations, leveraging advanced causal inference and target trial emulation methods.
Outside of research, Julia enjoys cooking, gardening, and exploring local farmers markets. She especially loves hunting down obscure ingredients and experimenting with new recipes. She also practices yoga, plays badminton, and spends quiet mornings reading with a cup of tea.
